July and August have been busy months for PlanBig and we’d like to share with you some of the things we’ve been up to. All these changes have been made because you thought to ask for it.

  1. We’ve reduced the number of categories that planners can select
    We’ve asked all our planners to choose just one category that best describes their plan rather than being able to choose multiple categories. We’ve done this because you told us that searching for plans by category wasn’t always that easy. (Yes we noticed the theory or ticking every category to increase the number of times your plan came up in search results too!) So now when you look for a plan under a category all the plans you get will have a lot more to do with that category. And for our planners that’s got to be a good thing too because it makes it easier for people browsing PlanBig to find your plan and get involved.

  2. We’ve included ‘active’ in the ways you can browse
    This feature has been around for about a month, but in case you haven’t seen it yet, what it does is allow people to browse plans by the most recently updated. Every time an action is taken on a plan, such as a like, photo upload or comment by a planner or supporter, that plan moves to the top of the active plans list. Underneath the plan in the view plans page is the time it was updated, for example “last activity 50 seconds ago” or “last activity 3 days ago” so you can keep tabs on the latest action of your favourite plans:

    In the left hand column of the view plans page, you can also filter your browsing by category or state, so if what you’re interested in are the most recently updated health plans in Western Australia, just click Western Australia and then Health:


    If you’re interested in active Health plans in WA, you can get to this information faster without having to browse plans from all across the country.

    As a planner, updating your plan regularly is important because it means it will be seen by more people under the active tab as well as more frequently in the moving banner on our homepage. As a supporter, the active tab lets you see the plans that are getting the most recent action on PlanBig.

  3. Extended email notifications
    As a plan supporter, you may have noticed that you’re receiving more emails from PlanBig letting you know when someone has commented on advice you have given or has made a comment under yours. We built this because people wanted to be alerted when something had been added to a conversation they were involved in. If you want to receive more alerts, next time you’re logged in, go to the settings page, tick the boxes next to the notifications you want to receive and don’t forget to hit ‘save’.


    Yup, I want to hear from PlanBig as much as possible.
